Genealogy

I work from time to time on my family history, the Jorgensen side of my mom and the Allison side of my dad.

On my Macintosh, I have the Reunion application, which I quite like, and it has the ability to upload to a website. Unfortunately, every change requires a complete upload rather than just a sync of changes, so it is not efficient with my time.

Therefore, I have started using Ancestry.com. My family tree is at http://trees.ancestry.com/tree/48081121/family. I have copied some but not all of the information from Reunion to Ancestry.com. I have not tried using Ancestry.com’s Family Tree Maker software, and probably will not. Ancestry.com is quite expensive, especially for world access which I need since the Jorgensen side is largely from Denmark while the Allison side is from a number of non-USA countries. So when I’m not actively working on my family tree, I drop my Ancestry.com membership, and then renew it when I have time to work.

In the long run, I’m not sure where things will be. Clearly it does not make sense to maintain two separate areas. If you are interested, take a look. I encourage relatives to get in touch with me to share our information.
